Description

Jereh PGXT100 intelligent pipe handling system is an important unit designed for modern drilling rig. It is mainly used to grip, lift, release, traverse and slew drilling tools such as drill pipe and drill collars. Combining hydraulic, pneumatic, electric and microcomputer control, it can achieve the traversing, locating, arranging and storage of the drill tools between the wellhead and monkeyboard automatically. Meanwhile, the operation stage and working condition of the equipment can be displayed and recorded in real-time through the monitoring system at the control area. It mainly matches with the 13,123.2-29,527.2 ft (4,000-9,000m)  skid mounted drilling rigs.

Design Idea

The system will be used on the monkeyboard to replace the derrick man to carry out the high-risk, intense and repetitive manual works and avoid the dangers caused by mis-operations. The automatic control improves the efficiency greatly and enables the unit the ability to work in extreme conditions. The system mainly consists of the actuating mechanism, power unit and control console.

The key parts are all from world famous brands and the unit is designed with pressure monitoring and warning functions to ensure the personal and equipment safety to the maximum.

Performance Advantages

Reduces the high-risk works of oilfield workers and can work continuously under extreme conditions to ensure safe, stable and high-efficiency tripping operations.

Safe and reliable operation: The intelligent pipe handling system can replace the derrick man to operate at height, which reduces the risks. It can lift up to 11,023 lb (6,800 KG) (three 8" drill collars) and assist to move the weight of 22,046 lb (10,000 KG) (three 9" drill collars). The pipe handling system grips the top area of the drill string and the gravity center of the drill string is below the system, so the drill string will be moved stably without tilting. The control precision of the pipe handling system is high and it is within 0.197 in (5mm) to ensure the drill string won’t interfere with the finger board or the passages. 


High Efficiency: The grip and release by the pipe handling system are independent to the operation of top drive except for the several seconds when the pipe handling system hands the pipe to the top drive.

Automatic Operation and Control: The intelligent pipe handling system is equipped with two control systems which are the local control and the remote control system and each control system has two control modes which are the automatic control and manual control, which achieves high automation. The control interface is quite simple. Set the grip and arrangement order before operations, press the automatic control button and the pipe handling system will operate according to the set program. The control mode can be shifted to manual control from automatic control according to the actual operation needs.

High Applicability and Wide Operation Range: The hydraulic system can work in relatively low temperature. The system is designed with hydraulic oil heating system. When the system is started, the heating system can be started to preheat the hydraulic oil. The usual temperature range of the working environment is -20-55℃. If the unit will be used in low-temperature areas, low-temperature materials and processes can be taken to make the unit can work at -45℃. If the unit will be used in high-temperature areas, high-temperature designs can be adopted to make the unit can work at 70℃.
